Saravanan confessed to burning Panneerselvam alive and scattering his ashes in a river as an act of revenge for the 2015 murder of his elder brother, Thennarasu.

Saravanan was nabbed on Jan 15 by the Pulianthope police. The police opened fire below his knee when he resisted arrest.

Saravanan revealed his involvement in Panneerselvam’s murder. Panneerselvam, a suspect in Thennarasu’s killing, was allegedly kidnapped to the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border by Saravanan and his associates and murdered.

Investigators combed the riverbed area described by Saravanan but were unable to locate remains. A senior officer stated, “We checked 2018 records of the Andhra Pradesh police and found no entries for recovery of unidentified bodies from the location.”
