Police arrested Nagarajan on May 28 on charges of sexually exploiting a 19-year-old college student when she had trained with him. The girl statedshewastrainedby him between 2013 and 2020. After the training session, the girl alleged, the coach would send the other girls away and ask her to stay back. He would pretend to give her physiotherapy and touch her inappropriately.

When the girl protested, Nagarajan stopped training her and threatened her. As the coach would spoil her chances to get government posting and to attend competitions, she remained silent.
