Man kills wife, surrenders to police

Chennai: A 33-year-old scrap merchant, murdered his wife and surrendered to police. Police said the deceased woman was identified as G Parameshwari, 26, a resident of Padappai.Police stated that Parameshwari and Gopal Raj, 33, have a 10-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter. Police said that Gopal Raj is a habitual drinker and often quarrelled with his wife, suspecting her fidelity.On Friday, Gopal Raj picked a quarrel with his wife and strangled Parameshwari to death. After realising he murdered his wife, he went to the Manimangalam police station and surrendered to the police. Following this, the police team went to his house and recovered Parameshwari's body, which was later sent to the Govt Hospital in Chromepet for an autopsy. Gopal Raj was remanded in judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate court. tnn
