CHENNAI: Police have launched a search to find three men who murdered their friend over a verbal spat at Vellavedu near Poonamallee on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Santhosh Kumar, was staying at his relative's house near Poonamallee.
On Sunday night, Santhosh's friends invited him to a party. While drinking, Santhosh developed a quarrel with one of his friends, Gautham, which soon snowballed into an argument. Meanwhile, Gautham snatched Santhosh's mobile phone and went to his home. Angered over this, Santhosh abused Gautham and his family members.
Gautham, who got to know about this, got furious and called his brother Karuppu Muthu and friend Vellai Muthu to make a truce.
However, the trio picked up a quarrel with Santhosh and started attacking Santhosh Kumar and threw a stone on his head. Santhosh Kumar died on the spot.On information, police rushed to the spot, and sent Santhosh's body to the Government Hospital in Tiruvallur for postmortem examination. Further investigations are on.
