Residents of Vallalar Nagar in Kancheepuram on Sunday caught two youths they thought were burglars, tied them to a roadside post and thrashed them for more than eight hours .

CHENNAI: Residents of Vallalar Nagar in Kancheepuram on Sunday caught two youths they thought were burglars, tied them to a roadside post and thrashed them for more than eight hours .
Abdul Hameed, a resident of Vallalar Nagar, returned from a family function and found his house burgled. He then spotted Imraan Khan, 19, and his friend Mohan Raj, 19, from the same locality, standing outside his house.

People in the area suspected them to be the robbers and nabbed them.
Villagers said police failed to act on their complaints while nearly ten houses in the locality were burgled in the recent past. Police resorted to lathi-charge as locals pelted stones at them. The two were rescued and admitted to a hospital.
