CHENNAI: A five-member gang murdered a 30-year-old man when he protested as the gang was consuming liquor, creating ruckus, and harassing woman near the Teachers Colony on Kancheepuram- Chengalpattu high road on Tuesday night.
The victim was identified as Madhusudhanan from Military Road at Thenambakkam, Kancheepuram died on the spot.
Police said the murder happened at a private college ground on the Kancheepuram - Chengalpattu highroad near.

On Tuesday night, the gang who were drinking on the playground tried to misbehave with women passing by. They also passed lewd comments at them. The gang members also threatened a few men demanding money from them.
Madhusudhanan, who was returning from work noticed the gang. When he confronted them, the gang members attacked him with knives. A few passers-by rushed Madhusudhanan to a private hospital where he died. The Kancheepuram Taluk police registered a case and have detained seven men including three college students.
