The IX Metropolitan Magistrate S Mohanambal directed police to consider the complaint and take appropriate action on September 25.
The court also directed the investigation officers to file a report on or before October 28.
An investigation officer said, "We have registered the case based on the court's direction. We have not inquired or summoned Soori." Soori stated in his complaint that he knew Ramesh in 2015 after he was booked to act in a movie 'Veera Dheera Suran', in which his son played the lead role and a remuneration was fixed as 40 lakh. Later, the movie name was changed as 'Kadhanayagan' and reshooting was done for the movie for about 32 more days for which Soori did not receive any additional payment.
On the other hand, Ramesh and his friend Anbuvelrajan, a film producer, showed several properties to Soori for him to invest.Though the actor was not interested to invest in a land, one of the properties in Siruseri measuring 1.83 acres of land was finalised after a few rounds of talks. Anbuvelrajan claimed that the property belonged to Ananthan and Loganathan and he was the power agent. Soori claimed that he transferred 2.15 crore in various instalments to Ananthan, Loganathan and Anbuvelrajan. "Later, I realised that Anbuvelrajan had fabricated some of the documents and conned me of 2.7 crore posing as an original power agent of the property," Soori stated. He lodged a complaint and mailed it to Adyar police station in August.

The petition was forwarded to the CCB. The entrustment document fraud Wing of the city police summoned Soori to appear before the investigation officers at 10 am on October 29 to record his statement. The summon has been issued based on the complaint lodged by Soori through post.
The retired police officer Ramesh Kudawla said, "My name has been used in the case to tarnish the image earned during my three decades of honest service in the police department." He accused the actor of submitting false allegations against him.
