Chennai-Dubai Emirates flight delayed after hoax bomb threat

CHENNAI: A Chennai-Dubai Emirates flight was delayed by around two hours on Tuesday after a bomb threat email was received at the airport. Passengers had not boarded the plane scheduled to leave at 9.50am.

The email stating that a bomb had been placed in the aircraft was received at around 9am.

CISF personnel, police and other emergency forces searched the plane after unloading the check in baggage. But it turned out to be a hoax message, said a police official.

Sources said Chennai airport had been receiving email bomb hoax messages suspectedly sent by the same person. Authorities are trying to trace the sender.
