Chennai Corporation worker electrocuted

A 52-year-old Chennai Corporation worker was electrocuted after he came in contact with a high voltage cable at Velachery on Monday.

CHENNAI: A 52-year-old Chennai Corporation worker was electrocuted after he came in contact with a high voltage cable at Velachery on Monday.
The corporation worker, identified as V Nandagopal, was removing bushes and debris from the roadside when the mishap happened.
Nandagopal, a resident of Oorurkuppam near Besant Nagar, was working as a gardener with the Chennai Corporation.

He was asked to attend to a complaint lodged by a resident to clear bushes on the roadside which posed hazard to the residents.
Nandagopal and another corporation worker went to Rettai Pillayar Koil Street and started clearing the area. Nandagopal pulled a string to let loose bushes grown over it. The string touched a high voltage overhead cable, and he was electrocuted.
