Chennai: Actor promises businessman magical kalasam, cheats him of Rs 26 crore

CHENNAI: Police on Tuesday arrested veteran Tamil actor Jayachitra's son for cheating a Chennai-based businessman of Rs 26.2 crore.


G Amresh Ganesh, 30, who has acted in a Tamil movie and has composed songs, was booked for cheating V Nedumaran, 68, of Valasaravakkam. Amresh has promised the businessman a temple kalasam made of iridium that could attract rice.

Police said Amresh and his friends took money from Nedumaran for about three years since 2013.

But when Nedumaran did not get what the men had promised, he lodged a complaint with the city police commissioner's office.

The entrust document fraud wing of the Central Crime Branch registered a case and arrested Amresh.

He was produced before a local court that sent him to judicial custody.

Amresh debuted as an actor in a movie titled 'Naane Ennul Illai' in 2010 and later composed music for movies such as 'Motta Siva Ketta Siva', 'Baskar Oru Rascal' and 'Charlie Chaplin 2'.
