CHENNAI: The Anna Square police have registered a case against 50 'unknown' people for hurling footwear on the car of former chief ministers
Edappadi K Palaniswami and O
Panneerselvam when they were returning from the MGR memorial on Sunday. Police are scanning video clips and social media platforms.
Cases have been filed under Sections 294(b) (abusing), 341 (wrongful restraint), 148 (rioting), and 506(I) (criminal intimidation) of IPC based on a complaint of AIADMK's Puratchi Thalavi Amma Peravai leader T Maran of Mylapore.
Police said the incident happened in front of MGR-Jayalalithaa memorial around 10.45 am.
Police said AIADMK leaders Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam reached the memorial followed by AMMK leader TTV Dinakaran and
Sasikala. Police suspect that AMMK supporters might have hurled footwear at EPS' vehicle.
