Chennai: 3 including two of Surana Group held

CHENNAI: Teams of the Serious Fraud Investigation Office have apprehended auditor Devarajan and Dineshchand Surana and Vijayaraj Surana for forging documents favouring Surana Group of firms. The officials have identified that the firm had evaded tax of ₹8,045 crore.

Two weeks ago, the SFIO officials arrested Rahul Surana, owner of Madras Super Store, apart from CEO of Surana Group and senior VP of Surana Power Ltd, for siphoning off bank borrowing of about ₹8,045 crore by floating shell companies.

Earlier, Rahul got into trouble after he rented his premises in Anna Nagar for BJP IT wing office.

Dineshchand is the father of Rahul Surana and Vijayaraj Surana is the brother of Dineshchand. A SFIO official said based on instructions of Dineshchand, his brother and son, Devarajan had prepared forged documents submitted before the central enforcement agencies and diverted the liquid cash to various shell companies.
