MADURAI: The best bull tamer and the best bull at a mega jallikattu to be held at M Chatrapatti in Madurai district on April 30 would get a car each as prizes, said Tamil Nadu commercial tax and registration minister P Moorthy on Tuesday.
The second best bull and bull tamer would get a Royal Enfield motorcycle each. The third prize would be a Hero motorcycle.
The prize list includes one gram gold coins, television sets and cycles and many more.
The jallikattu would be held as part of the continuing celebrations on chief minister M K Stalin turning 70. Stalin turned 70 on March 1.
Moorthy visited the venue on Tuesday along with the officials.
Addressing reporters after inspection, Moorthy said the jallikattu event will be a model event for all the jallikattus happening across the state.
Moorthy recalled the legacy of Chhatrapati stating that former chief minister and DMK founder C N Annadurai visited the village in 1966 and started a knowledge park in the village. “It is an honour to host jallikattu in this village,” Moorthy said.
More than 1,000 bulls from across the state are expected to participate in the event. The leading bull tamers from all the districts have been invited to the jallikattu.
The vadivasal, the function stage and the gallery for spectators are are nearing completion. All the norms laid down by the state government to conduct jallikattu would be followed diligently, Moorthy said.
