CHENNAI: CB-CID sleuths on Saturday filed a
chargesheet
against Saidapet
DMK MLA
and former Chennai mayor
M Subramanian
and his
wife
Kanchana in the XI Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Saidapet in connection with a land grab case registered last June.
The complaint was lodged by S Parthiban, who had contested as an independent against Subramanian in the 2016 assembly elections. He claimed that the couple illegally grabbed two plots belonging to Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) in Guindy in 1996 and constructed a three-storey building.
The complainant alleged that the plots were originally allotted by SIDCO to a man called S K Kannan but Subramanian and his wife forged documents to prove as if the MLA’s wife was the daughter of Kannan.
While the Guindy police registered a case on June 3, it was subsequently transferred to CB-CID for investigation. In June, the Madras High Court granted anticipatory bail to Subramanian and his wife.
After completion of investigation, the CB-CID police submitted the chargesheet on Saturday for offences of forgery, cheating and under the Prevention of Corruption Act before the Saidapet court.
