CHENNAI: State BJP president K Annamalai said the electoral fight in Coimbatore is not between three political parties, but between dharma and adharma.
“Even if Chief minister
M K Stalin comes here and campaigns here for 40 days, BJP will win with a historic margin in Coimbatore constituency,’’ Annamalai said upon arrival in Coimbatore airport on Friday night.
This is his maiden visit to Coimbatore after being announced as BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for Coimbatore constituency.
“I challenge the CM to come to Coimbatore and campaign here. Let the CM come, let all DMK ministers come,’’ Annamalai said. He alleged that BJP’s opponents would try all means to defeat him.
“There will be cash flow and deluge of freebies. But I will not bribe voters. But voters will support BJP since they want a change,’’ he said.
“TN’s political change will begin from Coimbatore,’’ he said. Annamalai said that not just in Coimbatore, BJP and its allies will all the 39 constituencies in TN.
Annamalai said though he was not interested in ‘Delhi politics’ and was keen on Tamil Nadu politics, he jumped into the
parliamentary poll fray since Modi had directed him to do so.
The performance of BJP MPs will make people vote for BJP in 2026assembly elections, he said.
He then slammed the DMK election manifesto stating that ₹it can be used as a toilet paper.’
“It’s common for DMK to give all sorts of promises and not fulfil it,’’ he said.
On the row over school children participating in Modi’s Coimbatore rally, he said the students voluntarily came to see Modi since schools were declared holiday by afternoon.
