Chennai: Burglars entered a fruit shop by drilling a hole through the roof and escaped with cash and eatables at Thoraipakkam on Thursday. Inquiries revealed that the burglars had left behind a dozen drug pills and some empty water bottles. The cops are searching for the suspects.
Police said the complainant Thangapandian, 45, runs ‘Krishna fruit shop’ at Thoraipakkam bus terminus on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR). On Friday morning when he came to the shop, he found the safe in the table tampered and 25,000 case and cigarettes worth 30,000 missing.
After he discovered the hole in the roof that could accommodate a man to sneak in, Thangapandian sent his staff to check for clues. The staff alerted him about some empty pet bottles and 12 drug tablets found on the roof.
The Thoraipakkam police registered a case and launched a search for the suspects based on Thangapandian’s complaint.
