Bull gores its owner to death during jallikattu near Dindigul

district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Thangavel, 59, of Naduvanoor village. The man tried to catch hold of his bull after it was released from the vadivasal around 3 pm.

The bull attacked him. Its horns pierced through his abdomen and lung. He was rushed to the Dindigul government hospital, where he died without responding to treatment.

Around 25 people, including bull tamers, owners and spectators, were injured in the bull taming sport.

As many as 552 bulls and 368 tamers participated in the event.

Cop attacked

Mohan, a special branch policeman who was engaged in crowd control at the venue, was attacked by people as they were unhappy with his actions. Mohan was on mufti due to which the mob could not identify him as a policeman. The injured policeman had to be taken to the Dindigul GH.
