BJP wants protection for ‘padayatra’
Chennai: BJP functionaries on Monday submitted a petition to DGP Shankar Jiwal seeking to increase police security for party state president K Annamalai’s padayatra beginning in Rameswaram on July 28. The functionaries, led by party state legal wing president Paul Kanagaraj, submitted the petition in which the route map of the padayatra and places where Annamalai is likely to take rest were submitted. Speaking to reporters, Kanagaraj said, “The padayatra has been planned till January 11 next year. It will be undertaken in at least three phases with intervals. It will conclude in Chennai.” TNN
