BJP has taken up UCC in fear of defeat: TNTJ

Chennai: TN Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) on Tuesday accused BJP of speaking about uniform civil code in fear of defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. In a statement, TNTJ general secretary R Abdul Kareem said that BJP has taken up UCC in fear of defeat. "Manipur is burning. Youth in the country are without jobs and inflation is skyrocketing. Murders are happening in the name of religion and there is no safety for women. Without focusing on these issues the BJP government has taken up UCC," said Kareem. "In the fear of defeat after opposition parties joined hands in Patna, BJP has taken hate politics in their hand to face the election and UCC is one of the tools of hate politics," said Kareem. Recently, PM Narendra Modi spoke in favour of UCC and it had sparked controversy. Opposition parties such as Congress criticised Modi by saying that he began his campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Reacting to Modi's speech Kareem said,"We must send emails to the law commission and must register our suggestions against UCC. People can also send emails to TNTJ and can register their message to condemn UCC. "
