VELLORE: A 36-year-old autorickshaw driver was beaten to death by a man over an illicit relationship in
Vellore
on Wednesday.
A police officer investigating the case identified the murdered victim as Barath, of Kansalpettai.
Barath married to Selvi and the couple had two sons. He was in an illicit relationship with a woman in Vellore.
Recently, he allegedly developed illicit relationship with the woman’s daughter. But Michael alias Umashankar, 32, of Shenbakkam, was also in a relation with woman’s daughter. Michael disclosed Barath’s relationship with the woman and her daughter to his wife.
On Wednesday afternoon, Umashankar confronted Barath and entered in a brawl.
During the fight, while Barath Barath went to pick up a stick lying nearby Umashankar attacked him with an iron rod hidden in his hip and fled away from the spot.
Barath was declared dead at
Government Vellore Medical College
and Hospital.
Later, the Vellore North police registered a case and arrested Umashankar .
Preliminary investigation revealed Umashankar was a historysheeter involved in various cases of attempt to murder in Vellore Taluk police station limit.
