CHENNAI: The Saidapet police on Monday night arrested

attack
on a Greater
Chennai Corporation
executive engineer.
MDMK workers attacked executive engineer K Varadarajan when he tried to remove the banners and hoardings erected outside the venue of a party function at Nandanam on Sunday.
Varadharajan, who was injured, was admitted to a private hospital.
Based on his complaint, the police registered a case under the sections 294 (B) (abusing), 323 (assaulting using hands), 353 (preventing a government servant from discharging his duty), 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and Section 3 of Public Property Damage and Loss Act.
Subramani, 50, was remanded in judicial custody.
Police said they were searching for a few more MDMK workers involved in the attack.
