CHENNAI: Hours after an Oncologist was stabbed by a aggrieved patient attendant at Kalaignar Centenary Super-Speciality Hospital in Guindy on Wednesday, another doctor, a psychiatrist, was attacked by a mentally challenged person at the Government Stanley Hospital.
Police said the Dr P Hariharan, 49, a resident of Third Main Road, Villivakkam Sidco Nagar, was employed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Stanley Hospital.

Doctors announce to stop all surgeries, OPs in Coimbatore While he was attending to patients in the outpatient ward in the department on Wednesday, he encountered S Bharath, 24, who resides in Neelankarai MGR Nagar Second Street.
A brief disagreement arose between Dr Hariharan and Bharath, following which Bharath attacked Dr Hariharan and fled from the scene.
Subsequently, Stanley Government Hospital's principal, Balaji, filed a complaint at the Washermenpet police station. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Initial enquiries have revealed that Bharath had previously received treatment at the same hospital for a duration of one month in the last year.
The police have launched a hunt for the attacker.
