SALEM: A fan club of former BJP state president K Annamalai was inaugurated at Poolampatti in Salem district on Monday morning. The nameplate of the 'Annamalai Fan Club' was unveiled on a parcel of land owned by V Thangamani, who is the Salem West district president of BJP’s art and culture wing.
Around 25 people, including BJP Salem West district president Hari Raman, were present. "There are 24 members in this fan club at present," Thangamani said.
The location where the fan club has been established is part of the Edappadi assembly constituency.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami represents the constituency in the assembly.
When a reporter asked Annamalai in Chennai on Tuesday if he intended to establish an independent party, he responded, "I will let you know when the independent party is launched.”
There have been rumours that Annamalai is planning to float his own party. Many party members wonder if Annamalai intends to transform the newly launched fan club into a political party.
