CHENNAI: The sports team of
Anna University has begun the year by winning seven medals at events held across the country this month. Vice-chancellor M K Surappa congratulated the winners at a felicitation ceremony on Friday.
At the All India Inter University Fencing Championship held in
Amritsar
between January 8 and January 11, the men's fencing team won bronze. S Danush, a first-year computer science engineering student from College of Engineering, Guindy, won three silver medals at swimming (50m, 100m and 200m events in the under 21 category) in Khelo India Youth Games organized in Pune from January 10 to January 15.
C S B Prithviraj, a third year student from St Joseph's College of Engineering, secured a silver medal at the 50m butterfly event. His college mates A Sherin and S Maniraj won gold and silver medals in long jump and triple jump respectively.
