Anna univ convocation on July 29

Chennai: After 16 months, Anna University's 42nd convocation is scheduled to be held on July 29. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to take part in the convocation and hand over degrees and gold medals to graduates.While around three lakh students are expected to receive their degrees, 69 top rankers will receive their gold medals in person."We will give a 10-gram gold medal to all the 69 students who have got the first mark in their respective subjects," said vice-chancellor R Velraj.Of 69 gold medalists, 31 are from the four campuses of Anna University while 38 are from the affiliated colleges.The centre for research asked all the research scholars to register online from July 20 to 23 to take part in the convocation in person. More than 1800 research scholars are expected to receive their PhDs in the convocation.
