American Center’s pavilion opened at Chennai Book Fair
CHENNAI: US consul general in Chennai Christopher Hodges on Friday inaugurated the American Center’s pavilion at the 47th Chennai Book Fair being held at Nandanam.
This year’s theme at the American Center pavilion is 'In Your Own Words,' a recognition of freedom of speech and expression as tools for empowerment.
The stall is hosting an exhibition on American cartoonist Etta Hulme, a slam poetry competition for college students, dedicated sessions on higher education in the United States of America, book readings, fun and educational storytelling workshops for young children, and exchange programme consultations.
The highlight is education and exchange opportunities in the United States. Hodges said, “The American Center’s presence at the book fair explores the way literature and information of all kinds can encourage new ideas, innovation, and creativity. Under the theme ‘In Your Own Words,’ our booth features leaders and artists who have been pioneers in this journey.”

We have seen freedom of speech and expression is given to our tongues one of 5 indriyas or sense organs, like Eyes ears ,nose ,tongues and body.Tongue is special since it serves two different purposes. One is to speak another is to taste. Both should be used with all care and seriousness. As humans we are given the 6 th sense namely intelligence. That could be dug out by education only.Normally written books on every subject do that well if written effectively.T 86Read allPost comment
