American Center and United States-India Educational Foundation in Chennai closed

CHENNAI: The American Center and the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) located inside the US consulate in Chennai has been closed till further notice.
A note from the US consulate general to the library members said, "Because of the lapse in Congressional appropriations, the American Center and the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) is closed and will remain closed until further notice.Please visit @StateDept on Twitter for updates."
The American Centre has a library of 15,000 books and organises a wide range of interactive programmes, including English language workshops, entrepreneurial guidance, networking with US higher education institutions, discussions on US culture and policy and film screenings.
