All set for Malayali Markazhi Mahostavam 2026

CHENNAI: The 8th edition of Malayali Markazhi Mahostavam titled ‘Sargam 2026’ will be held at Asan Memorial School on Jan 2,3 and 4.

The festival, organised by Ashrayam and Asan Memorial Association, coincides with the Tamil Margazhi month. This time around, there will be dance, vocal and instrumental music, folk art forms, theatre, photo and book exhibition and more, featuring the cultural heritage of Malayalis.

A highlight of this year’s festival is a mega Mohiniyattam performance by 200 dancers from across the city, choreographed by Bindu Namboothiri and Shruthi Shobi, accompanied by Devarajan Marar and team’s percussion.

Other events include a kolam competition, Ottam Thullal by Kalamandalam Suresh Kaliyath, sound illusion by Ravikumar, Padayani-Velakali by Thiruvalla Kaviyoor Sreebhadra troupe, the play ‘Madan Moksham’ featuring Pramod Veliyanadu as the protagonist, a talk show, dance by Uttara Unni, violin by Ganga Sasidharan, a painting exhibition and more.

Filmmaker Sathyan Anthikkad will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.
