Chennai: A man, identified as Mohammad Rizwan Ali, against whom the city police had issued a lookout notice in connection with the BSP leader K Armstrong murder case, was detained at Chennai airport by immigration officials when he arrived from Malaysia on Friday.
A senior police officer said Rizwan Ali was not involved in the Armstrong murder case, but facilitated an accused, ‘Sambhavam' Senthil, in obtaining a passport, visa, and other documents to facilitate his travel abroad.
Police said Rizwan Ali will be taken into police custody for further investigation.
Senthil is classified as an A+ history-sheeter at Tondiarpet police station in Washermenpet district, a category used for offenders involved in multiple murder cases. Senthil was named second accused in the Armstrong murder case.
