AICTE tells colleges not to sack faculty
CHENNAI: All India Council for
On Wednesday, TOI had reported that engineering colleges in the state had sacked12,000 teaching staff after AICTE changed the TSR from 1:15 to 1:20. Against this backdrop, AICTE’s notice states that colleges can adjust the ratio only after teachers retire or voluntarily resign.
KM Karthik from Private College Employees Union said the move, aimed at improving students’ welfare, has not done any good to anyone. “By sending teachers out, expenses might have dropped. But it has not reflected on students’ fees.”
He demanded AICTE issue necessary orders to revise the TSR back to1:15 to save the livelihood of thousands of teachers.
