Ahead of polls, Tamil Nadu actor Sarath Kumar merges party with BJP to ‘support PM’

Chennai: In an unexpected move, actor-turned-politician R Sarath Kumar on Tuesday disbanded his All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) and merged it with BJP.

The merger happened in presence of BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai and party in-charge of state for Lok Sabha election Arvind Menon.

"This is just the beginning. Decision to merge was not that of AISMK but of people," Sarath Kumar said after the merger.

Annamalai said, "Sarath joined the party unconditionally with the sole purpose of supporting our PM."
