CHENNAI: Actor Thadi Balaji's wife Nithya was on Saturday arrested by the Madhavaram police on charges of damaging the car of a neighbour over a dispute. Police later released her on bail.
Police arrested Nithya, 35, based on the complaint from car owner Mani, 62, a resident of Ponniamman Medu near Madhavaram.
The incident happened a few days ago. Mani, a retired schoolteacher, found a scratch mark on his car and traced the source of it by browsing through CCTV camera footage.
Mani submitted CCTV camera footage to police in which Nithya is seen walking towards his car parked in front of his house carrying a piece of stone. She has the flash light of her mobile on.
Following this, Mani filed a complaint at the Madhavaram police station and police registered a case.
They summoned Nithya to the police station for questioning. Later, she was formally arrested and let off on station bail.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Nithya and Mani had a quarrel over the parking of their cars in front of their houses. Further investigations are on.
