ACB traps hostel welfare officer

ELURU: Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths have caught a hostel welfare officer of social welfare college girls hostel red-handedly while taking bribes in Nuzvid in Eluru district on Thursday night. Warden Pothula Nagamani was trapped when she was taking a bribe of Rs 30,000 from an outsourcing employee at her house in Nuzvid.

According to DSP, ACB, V Subba Raju, one Panda Jhansi is working as housekeeping and sanitary worker through outsourcing from 2019. She is not getting salaries properly and got some portion of pending salaries in the last year. Hostel welfare officer Nagamani has told Jhansi either to pay Rs One lakh or leave the job as several people are ready pay the amount for the post and told her to stop working from December, 2024.

On 21st of this month, Jhansi and her husband has convinced her that they will pay Rs 30,000 initially. Later, they approached ACB which has organised trap on Thursday night. The sleuths given painted currency worth Rs 30,000 and her husband. The couple went to the house of Nagamani and gave the money to Nagamani who handed over the money to her husband, Ramoji Rao.

The ACB has conducted chemical tests to Nagamani and her husband who was possessing money at the time of the ride. The ACB has registered a case on both Nagamani and her husband in this case. After conducting medica tests at GGH, Eluru, both the accused were produced before ACB Court in Vijayawada.
