52-year-old woman killed by speeding car in Velachery

Chennai: A 52-year-old woman from Madurai was killed by a speeding car at Velachery on Friday night. Police said Yenyath Nisha had come to visit her son residing at Medavakkam, and was waiting for a bus to return to Madurai.
The car driven by Ram, a techie, knocked her down, killing her instantly.
Police moved the body to the Government hospital in Chrompet for postmortem.Police nabbed Ram and booked him for rash and negligent driving leading to death, and remanded him in judicial custody.
In a separate incident, Sivaprakash, 22, died on the spot at Velachery, after he lost control of the two-wheeler he was riding, rammed into a median, and sustained head injuries.
