CHENNAI: Police arrested two men who allegedly abducted the manager of a private bank after he failed to transfer a sum of 65 lakh in an illegal deal on Thursday evening.
Police said Mohammed Kasim alias Bishan33, Sherif, Dilli Babu and Askar tried to abduct S Muruganantham, 36, manager of IndusInd bank, in an auto on Thursday.
When Muruganantham raised an alarm passers-by gathered and managed to catch the driver.
While two of the gang members escaped, two others were caught.
Investigations revealed that Mohammed from Triplicane was into import of electrical goods had approached Muruganantham to transfer a sum of 65 lakh to his account. They had also stuck previous deal for which the bank official seem to have obtained a commission.
The bank manager received the 65 lakh but failed to transfer the sum. Angered by this, the businessman hatched the kidnap plan. A case has been registered and the police arrested Mohammed and Sherif. A search has been launched for Dhili Babu and Askar.
