Chennai: 33-year-old man beaten to death in drunken brawl

CHENNAI: A 33-year-old man was murdered in a drunken brawl at Kundrathur on Thursday night. The victim, Thyagarajan, 33, of Kundrathur had gone out with his friend Kannan, 31, on Thursday night, for a drink.
They decided to get drunk at a playground in Kundrathur.
In an argument, which broke out between the duo, they began a fisticuff and Kannan reportedly picked up a sharp stone to attack Thyagarajan.While he was continuously hitting Thyagarajan, passersby heard his cry and came to his rescue.
Meanwhile, Kannan fled from the spot. Thyagarajan was taken to hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead. Police registered a murder case and nabbed Kannan. Kannan, a carpenter, told police that Thyagarajan spoke ill about his wife, which led to the fight.
