3 students held for smuggling liquor

CHENNAI: Chennai police have arrested three aeronautical engineering students for the possession of 44 smuggled liquor bottles. They were caught during a vehicle checkup near Thoraipakkam on Sunday night.
As the 16th parliamentary elections are forthcoming in Tamil Nadu, election commission officials and the police personnel are conducting vehicle checks across the state to prevent transportation of black money.
Police personnel intercepted a car near a check post in Thoraipakkam on Sunday night. They found cardboard cartons inside the car, which contained the bottles. The three, Mohammad, Deepak and Arjun, are in their final years at a private aeronautical engineering college near Thoraipakkam.
Police arrested the trio and seized the bottles they had smuggled from Puducherry. Police also confiscated their car and are investigating further.
