Chennai: Seven days after the murder of Akilnath, an advocate in Puzhal, police arrested three people, including a woman who is believed to be the chief conspirator. Seven people had surrendered in a court in Chengalpet.
Akhilnath, 34, of Sankaralinganar Street in Kavangarai was practising at the judicial magistrate court in Ponneri. He was talking to a friend when six men attacked him.
Police sources said Akhilnath was an accused in the murder of Sivaraj, a resident of the area, on January 7.
After the murder, Viji, Vignesh, Dinesh, Balaji, Kumar, Velu and Chandru surrendered before the court. A special police team which was investigating the case on Thursday arrested Suman Raj, Pavithran and Rojamma.
Interrogations revealed that the murder was executed on Rojamma's direction.
"She is Sivaraj's aunt and was trying to avenge his murder," said Puzhal inspector Shanmugasundaram.
All three have been sent to prison.
