AIADMK legislators who campaigned for the AMMK during the Lok Sabha elections, the DMK on Tuesday sought to move a no-confidence motion against the speaker. While the notice signed by M K Stalin cried foul over the speaker being 'partisan', the AIADMK said the no-trust notice showed the DMK was playing alongside the AMMK.
Dhanapal on Monday sent notices to V T Kalaiselvan (representing Virudhachalam), E Rathinasabapathy (Aranthangi) and A Prabhu (Kallakurichi), seeking their replies within a week on a petition submitted by the AIADMK requesting their disqualification on charges of anti-party activities.
The ruling camp, however, did not file complaints against MJK leader and Nagapattinam MLA Thamemmun Ansari, who had won the 2016 election on the 'two leaves' symbol, yet campaigned for the DMK-Congress combine in the recent general elections.
"A previous complaint was made against the MLAs in October, this time chief government whip S Rajendiran gave consolidated proof of their anti-party activities."
