22 teachers to receive National Award

As many as 22 teachers from Tamil Nadu will receive the National Award for Teachers on September 5. The school education and literacy department has come out with the list of teachers who will be receiving the awards this year.

CHENNAI: As many as 22 teachers from Tamil Nadu will receive the National Award for Teachers on September 5. The school education and literacy department has come out with the list of teachers who will be receiving the awards this year.
The awardees include headmistress of St John’s Middle School Sr S Amalorpavam, former assistant headmaster at Don Bosco Matriculation School P George Paul, Rajarishi Arthanareesa Varma Primary School headmaster M Selvakumar.

“I am happy receiving this award. Not only me, but all teachers who put in 15-20 years of service should be awarded. I have given 32 years in Don Bosco and am still teaching,” said George Paul. He has also received the state award for best teacher in 2012.
Seven secondary school teachers and 18 primary school teachers will be receiving the award. Principal of DAV Public School, Minoo Agarwal, will receive the award under the CBSE category.
