21 lakh gold looted from 5 homes

CHENNAI: Burglars decamped with 90 sovereigns of gold jewellery, worth around 21 lakh, a result of heists in as many as five homes in Perungudi.
According to the police, burglars hit the houses of former city corporation councillor Janakiraman, a software engineer Rajesh and three others.
It was Janakiraman who lost the most as he told police that at least 70 sovereigns were missing from his house.Cops suspect the same gang to have burgled all five houses. A hunt is on for the miscreants. Cops are also looking at CCTV footage to gain leads.
