CHENNAI: Police on Thursday claimed to have cracked Tuesday’s murder of DMDK functionary K Suresh at Chengalpet with the arrest of two people. Earlier, five others, including alleged mastermind Charles, surrendered at a court in Tiruvallur in connection with the murder. Suresh had demanded that Charles sell his house and even threatened to eliminate him following which Charles devised the plan to kill Suresh, police said.
Declaring the arrest of Gopi and ‘Pavadai’ Babu of Chengalpet, north zone inspector-general of police C Sylendra Babu said “the duo had helped the assailants by giving their bikes to escape after the murder. We have seized the bikes.” Apart from Charles, the others who surrendered are Santhosh (26), Dhanasekar (28), Murali (27) and Mani (29). “We got the information about the surrender today. We will take them into custody to get more details,” a police officer said. K Suresh, who was about to leave to Kodaikanal with his friends for a short trip, was found dead inside his office in J C K Nagar near Chengalpet around 6.15pm on Tuesday.
