19-yr-old killed in road mishap
Chennai: A speeding car rammed a furniture-laden van near Perungudi railway station in Velachery on Monday, throwing a 19-year-old worker off the vehicle. The youth, who had suffered severe head injuries, died at a govt hospital on Tuesday.
Jones was employed at a furniture store in Velachery and was assisting with a delivery when the accident occured. The van was being driven by Sreenath, 26.
According to police, the van was travelling from Velachery towards Taramani along the MRTS Road when a car rammed into it from behind. Jones was rushed to the Government Royapettah Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing police registered a case and arrested Sreenath on the charges of causing death due to negligence.
