CHENNAI: A
teenager
, who was accused of trying to steal a two-wheeler, died after being hit by a
truck
while he was running out of the
R K Nagar
police station in Chennai on Tuesday afternoon. The police were investigating whether it was a case accident or suicide.
The police said Manikandan had tried to steal a two-wheeler, which was parked near a shop. The two-wheeler belonged to Thirumurugan of Madhavaram.
Thirumurugan caught Manikandan red-handed while he was about to escape with the two-wheeler.
Thirumurugan handed him over to the R K Nagar police. However, considering the age of Manikandan, Thirumurugan decided to withdraw a complaint which he had filed against the accused.
Interrogations revealed that this was Manikandan’s first offence. Following this, his father, Devaraj, was called to the police station.
Devaraj arrived at the
police station
and scolded his son for trying to steal a two-wheeler.
At this point, Manikandan ran out of the police station, got hit by a truck and died on the spot.
