Cyclone Michaung: Anna University postpones semester exams scheduled for Monday
In view of the heavy rain forecast, Anna University has postponed the semester exams scheduled on Monday. It also postponed distance mode exams scheduled to be held on Sunday and Monday. The university said it would announce the new dates later.

Tamil Nadu: On Cyclone 'Michaung', S Balachandran, Deputy-Director General of Meteorology, Chennai says, "There is depression over the South West Bay of Bengal...It is moving continuously North Westward, and the next 24 hours are likely to concentrate the cyclone further it will move North Westward direction and reach the West Central Bay of South Andhra and North Tamil Nadu Coast by the 4th. Odisha is likely to receive very heavy rain on December 4 and 5, the IMD said, while issuing yellow (be updated) and orange (be prepared) warnings. The national weather agency has predicted that squally weather conditions, with wind speeds reaching 35-45 kmph, are likely in the coastal districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur on December 5.
Cyclone is likely to move west-northwestwards, intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over Southwest Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, it would move northwestwards and reach westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu coasts by December 4 forenoon.
Winds may begin gaining pace on December 3, and touch 50kmph-60kmph, gusting to 70kmph in the city and five neighbouring districts. While Chennai may receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning for the next 48 hours, the intensity may increase from December 3.

Chennai and its neighbouring districts may, however, get heavy rain when the cyclone nears the Tamil Nadu coast.
Cyclone Michaung that is brewing over the Bay of Bengal is expected to skip the city and make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam with winds that could reach speeds of 100kmph on Monday morning, IMD has forecast.
