MOGA: The district police claimed to have solved the blind murder case of a 22-year old youth of Sekhan Kalan village of the district whose dead body was recovered in a canal about two weeks ago.
The police sources said that the youth Lakhbir Singh was murdered by Mahinder Singh and his son Gurpreet Singh of the same village. While Gurpreet is reportedly absconding, Mahinder Singh was produced before the judicial magistrate Moga on Wednesday who remanded him in police custody for two days.
The deceased had left his house on the evening of September 23 after taking meals and did not return home.
Next day his body was found in a canal near Vairoke village in Moga district.
The post mortem report revealed that the deceased was killed with sharp edged weapons. A case under section 302 of the IPC was registered at Baghapurana police station against unidentified persons.
According to police sources illicit relations of the deceased with a girl of the same village were the cause of the crime. After leaving his house the deceased entered the house of his beloved Jaspreet Kaur (name changed) by scaling the outer wall of her house. During the night the father and brother of the girl saw the deceased with the girl and in a fit of anger murdered him. The body was thrown in the canal passing near the village on the same night.
