Youth leader booked for assault on BDS student

CHANDIGARH: President of Revolutionary Youth Association (RYA) was booked for assaulting a female student of Panjab University (PU) on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the accused was identified as Kanwaljeet Singh and the incident happened during a seminar at PU’s sociology department. Sources said the complainant girl and Kanwaljeet had some old dispute.Sources said the girl reached the seminar hall with her friends and tried to apply black paint on Singh’s face.
Angry at this, Kanwaljeet allegedly slapped her, which left the girl’s lips bruised. She was taken to the hospital for medical examination. The victim is a student of BDS and her condition stated to be is critical. The accused has been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation), said Sector-11 SHO Gurmukh Singh.
