'You know who is selling drugs': Taranjit Singh Sandhu
MAJITHA (AMRITSAR): BJP Lok Sabha election candidate from Amritsar seat Taranjit Singh Sandhu raked up the issue of drugs while campaigning in SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia's home constituency, Majitha, on Tuesday.
Majitha assembly constituency, represented by Majithia's wife Ganieve Kaur in the state assembly, is part of Amritsar Lok Sabha seat. Sandhu, a former ambassador, and his team from BJP conducted a door-to-door campaign in Majitha Main Bazar on Tuesday. Expressing concern over the issue of drug abuse, Sandhu, without naming anyone, said: "You know who is selling drugs. Who is protecting them?" He added those intent on destroying the younger generation will not be spared.
The BJP nominee visited almost every shopkeeper in Majitha town's market, campaigning along the way. He was warmly welcomed by residents, who showered him with flower petals, hugged him, and took selfies with him.
Sandhu also listened to complaints by locals, who said no MP had ever taken their concerns seriously. Sandhu expressed gratitude to the residents of Majitha for the support, stating that it would strengthen his intentions.
He warned that he would not tolerate any bullying or domination in Majitha. Sandhu also assured locals a special package for Majitha and Amritsar after the formation of a BJP-led NDA govt at Centre for the third time. "Punjab was once prosperous and filled with laughter and joy. However, observing Punjab today brings sorrow to the heart," he added.
