When he questioned his nephew (Suman's son), the child told him that Vikram had came to their house around 8 pm. The accused allegedly handed the boy a mobile phone and went inside the house. When the child later returned home, he found his mother lying dead inside the house. During preliminary interrogation, police found that Vikram visited the woman's house for some time. Investigators suspected that a dispute over a financial transaction led to the murder.
