Woman ends life, police suspect in-laws
According to police, Karamjeet Kaur married to Sukhjit Singh two years back and her in-laws started harassing her for dowry soon after the marriage.
According to police, Karamjeet Kaur married to Sukhjit Singh two years back and her in-laws started harassing her for dowry soon after the marriage. Kaka Singh, father of Karamjeet, alleged that her family members used to beat her up regularly.
Police said on Thursday, her family members allegedly forced her to consume poison when the parents of Karamajeet Kaur refused to pay more dowry.
The Kharar police has registered a case under section 306/120 IPC on the charge of abetment of suicide against her husband Sukhjit Singh and other members of his family namely Manjinder Singh, Satwant Kaur, Avtar Kaur, Harman Singh and Aman.
Police said they were investigating the matter and have sent the parties to various places to nab the accused.
